Charts Analysis: LadBaby scores surprise Christmas chart-topper

YouTube vlogger Mark Hoyle’s charity rewrite of Starship’s 1985 No.12 hit We Built This City, issued under the alter-ego LadBaby, takes the coveted Christmas No.1 spot, with a late surge lifting it above Ava Max’s Sweet But Psycho. 

Originally from Nottingham, 31-year-old graphic designer Hoyle eschews the song’s original words in favour of self-penned lyrics largely about Gregg’s sausage rolls in a tongue-in-cheek charity effort, from which proceeds go to The Trussell Trust, which provides food banks around the UK. ...
