Nordoff Robbins launches 2016 Christmas Appeal

Music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins has launched its 2016 Christmas Appeal, supported by Justin Bieber.

Through its Christmas Appeal, Nordoff Robbins is asking people to spread the word about music therapy and its life-changing impact, and make a donation so that they can help more people like Evie - just £20 could help pay for a music therapy session for someone struggling with the after-effects of a stroke, and £100 could support one day of music therapy for young cancer patients in hospital.

The charity's 2016 appeal is dedicated to the power of song and ‘#EviesStory’ is underpinned by an animated film which documents 17-year-old Bieber fan Evie’s journey with music therapy following surgery to remove a brain tumour. The film can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1GUK9Ry1FI&t=65s

The operation left Evie partially paralysed and unable to walk, whilst nerve damage she sustained dramatically changed her voice. Having always been a passionate and talented singer, she found this particularly hard to deal with. Nordoff Robbins music therapist Bev Rayner started working with Evie soon after her surgery helping to taking her mind off the pain, re-build her confidence and pave the way for Evie to sing once again.

Evie also credits Bieber and his music as having had a huge impact in helping her on her road to recovery. Bieber features in the animation, with his single Purpose laid over as the theme track to the appeal.
