Handle Recruitment are searching for an Operations Manager to manage the day to day operations and projects at this Music Publishing Trade Association based in London. You will work very closely with the CEO in implementing a strategic plan for the company and manage a small, dedicated and diverse team.

The ideal candidate will have the capacity to juggle a demanding workload and have a proven understanding of music publishing and how it relates to the wider music industry.

Key responsibilities:

Day to day operations;

  • Manage employee sickness / holidays and all aspects of staff recruitment, terms & conditions of employment, appraisals and exit interviews
  • Assess staff training needs and source appropriate courses to improve skills and knowledge
  • Brief staff on company related issues and lead staff meetings
  • Liaise with external accountants, including monthly debtor meetings and sign off payroll
  • Assist in budget setting and monitoring
  • Run an effective and efficient office, both operationally and procedurally
  • Oversee the preparation of the annual calendar of meetings and events
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations
  • Negotiate all supplier contracts with support from the Office Administrator
  • Managing any office moves

Projects & policies;

  • Managing and furthering existing programmes such as internship and scholarship schemes
  • Initiating new opportunities within the company and proactively engaging with members
  • Raise awareness in the value of copyright amongst the general public
  • Negotiate and manage all agreements in conjunction with the Chief Executive
  • Construct agendas for committee meetings in conjunction with the Chief Executive, PA & Committee coordinator
  • Providing support and co-ordinating company involvement in meetings with members, chairing these meetings where necessary
  • Work together with the Chief Executive to continually enhance the organisation and further its achievements
  • Deputise for the Chief Executive when necessary
  • Expand the company’s network of contacts with other sectors of the music business and creative industries
  • Provide general assistance across the team where necessary

Essential skills and person specification:

  • Experience managing a team to deliver KPIs in a fast paced environment, having the ability to lead and manage people confidently
  • A proven ability in bringing together diverse views to obtain consensus
  • A capacity to thrive under competing demands on time and to enjoy prioritising a demanding workload
  • A critical thinker and deft problem solver
  • Ability to support the Chief Executive strategically and trouble-shoot potential problems before they arise
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent diplomatic skills when dealing with individuals from all levels of the music industry
  • A familiarity with budgetary and book-keeping procedures
  • Experience of (or a proven interest in) music publishing and how it relates to other aspects of the music industry
