US streaming music revenue up 39% in 2013

Streaming music revenues grew 39% in the US last year, generating $1.4 billion.

The sector contributed more than one-fifth of the territory’s overall record business, up from just 15% in 2012.

Paid subscriptions (discounting royalty payments from free tiers from the likes of Spotify and Pandora) generated $628.1 million in revenue last year – a rise of 57% compared to 2012.
