Island Records, one of the world’s most iconic record labels, is a coveted destination for both new and established artists. It’s home to a varied roster that ranges from new talent including Catfish & The Bottlemen, George the Poet and Hozier to established acts such as U2, PJ Harvey, Florence + The Machine, Mumford & Sons, Disclosure, John Newman, Ben Howard and Rizzle Kicks to name but a few. Islands Records – a division of Universal Music – now needs a highly skilled Head of Regional Radio Promotions to help drive their audiences.
About the role
This is your chance to take on regional radio promotion for the entire Island Records artists roster. It’s a key, senior role, where you’ll be in charge of budgets and financial sign-off, a Regional Consultant plus the preparation of crucial management information. You’ll also mastermind promotional strategies – a challenge that offers the scope to drive the use of digital platforms, maximise creativity in key regional radio performances and create potential ‘one-off’ ideas for artists. Much of your time will be spent out and about; you’ll visit regional stations nationwide, building strong links with DJs and Heads of Music. With your influence and rounded experience, you’ll have what it takes to innovate, spot opportunities and ensure Island artists get maximum exposure on regional radio.
About you
Highly driven with extensive experience, you’ll know the world of radio promotion inside out. You can put strategic campaigns into action; promote a broad range of artists and work across both traditional radio and newer digital platforms. What’s more, you’re organised and commercially sharp, with the ability to control significant budgets. Now you’re keen to bring this expertise to a major label with world-renowned acts. A skilled manager who’s good with people, you’ll make the most of your network of contacts while leading your team by example. An in-depth knowledge of music, radio and promotions will underline your credibility; while a proven gift for innovation will help you excel in the role.
