An opportunity has arisen for the right person to join the team at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. Based in Kilburn, London, the Institute has a portfolio of courses stretching from part time study to full time degrees and masters courses.

The Industry Liaison Officer will be the main point of contact for all things music industry at the Institute, inclusive of identifying industry contacts, organising auditions, providing students with industry connectivity and partnerships, organising and managing careers days, training sessions, fairs and student events. This person will oversee the student label and will help the label team to focus on A&R processes, marketing and organisation. They will primarily be focused on supporting, developing and widening the range of opportunities for students and alumni. 

Key responsibilities:

Events

  • Contribute to the delivery of a range of careers events and schools’ fairs, acting as the main point of contact for careers’ advice at the Institute.
  • Support the coordination and delivery of other Institute events, such as student and alumni showcase nights, etc., for example by liaising with the events team to provide student musicians/artists as required.

Student Opportunities

  • Act as first point of contact for all student-related careers opportunities.
  • Responsible for communicating all student-related opportunities to student body and wider target audiences, including student newsletter, student website etc.
  • Organising, developing and delivering activities such as auditions and showcases for students and/or alumni, competitions, jobs, interviews, work experience etc. including proactive provision of feedback to students
  • Identifying opportunities and delivering placements in a wide range of industry-related roles as well as the wider arenas of employment that students progress into e.g. teaching, sole trader, etc.
  • Promotion and coordination of internal development opportunities.
  • Be the main point of contact for the student label advising students on development and external resources. Ensuring the student label continues to grow every year and continues to put out viable product.

Personal Skills Development

  • Develop a wide range of careers-related support at relevant points during courses and post-graduation
  • Contribute to the establishment of an effective and credible Professional Development Centre

General

  • Industry liaison and the development of key industry partnerships
  • Support schools-related promotions, including liaising with schools careers officers, identifying careers-related events in schools and supporting delivery of schools promotions generally.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by management
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of the children and vulnerable adults that the post-holder is responsible for and/or comes into contact with.

Industry Liaison Officer Experience Needed:

  • Well presented, highly organised, articulate, confident, self-motivated, high achiever and outgoing.
  • Previous experience of working within the music industry, including knowledge of processes and structures, is essential.
  • Experience working within the further and higher education environment, specifically within a student-facing role, would be highly desirable.
  • Experienced in all relevant social media platforms.
  • Should have collated a personal database of industry contacts which they can introduce to the Institute.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Available and willing to work flexible hours as required.
  • UK Citizenship or ability to work full time hours in the UK (we do not sponsor).
  • Be over the age of 18.
  • Able to commute to NW6 City Centre on a daily basis
