Under the direct supervision of the Academic Dean, Valencia Campus, and the functional supervision (dotted-line reporting capacity) of the Dean of Institutional Assessment and Graduate Studies, the Program Director will provide leadership for the Global Entertainment and Music Business graduate program in Valencia. The Program Director will manage all faculty teaching; review and oversee curriculum; recommend curriculum revisions, as appropriate; advise students and ensure student learning and student success. The Program Director will also be a member of college and campus committees, as appropriate, and will teach courses, as needed and appropriate. The Program Director will work with the Career Center to place graduates, and will develop relationships with industry executives and schedule master class visits to campus.
The Program Director works collaboratively with both Valencia and Boston colleagues to ensure the highest academic standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Implement programs on the Berklee Valencia campus, as appropriate
Implement, review and evaluate curriculum, recommending revisions as appropriate
Manage faculty—including hiring recommendations, faculty evaluation, faculty ?development, mentoring, consultation, and evaluation
Advise students in the program, ensuring their success
Assist in development of short and long-range academic goals
Collaborate on programs for faculty development
Ensure consistency and compliance in terms of policies, procedures, curriculum and other academic issues
Support student success, student recruitment and student retention
Organize visiting artists, as appropriate
Organize student trips and exchanges, as appropriate
Participate in college committees, as appropriate
Teach courses in music business
Engage in active professional development
Appear at industry events to increase visibility for the program
Participate in marketing, admissions, and recruitment, as appropriate
Review applications and conduct interviews for incoming classes
Engage in research activities, writing and publishing articles
Develop relationships with the society and the music industry at a local and international ?level
Manage short programs and workshops when requested
Experience and Competencies:
Fluency in English
Masters degree with appropriate experience required; Doctorate preferred.
A minimum of three (3) years experience in academic leadership, management, ?evaluation, and planning in higher education
A minimum of five (5) years experience in college teaching, with an emphasis on ?marketing, entrepreneurship, or law (other specialties to the music industry may be ?considered)
Extensive knowledge of the international music industry (U.S., European, Latin ?American and Asian markets)
Existing relationships with European and United States music companies and the ?desire to build additional relationships
Expertise in advising students
Ability to travel occasionally
Excellent technology skills
