AWAL serves a growing roster of emerging talent and established independent artists from all over the world and we are now expanding our London based UK team to include a new Senior Mechanical Assistant, reporting to the Royalty Manager.

Supporting the Mechanical Licensing & Royalty Administration process, you will work across all mechanical licensing tasks as well as royalty and accounting responsibilities ensuring quarterly deadlines are met.

The ideal candidate is interested in career growth within royalty administration, ideally someone who understands the mechanical licensing process - perhaps you have a background in royalty distribution and accounting for a record label, distributor, publisher or collection society!

To be successful in the role, you are a hardworking, self-managing, detail-oriented and organized individual who is fluent in excel and enjoys data management and back office work.

AWAL is the Recordings division of Kobalt, and provides a range of marketing, distribution and other services to artists and labels, empowering recording owners whilst enabling them to retain ownership and control of their masters. What would you do as a Senior Mechanical Assistant?

  • General day to day duties of issuing and logging mechanical licenses
  • Maintain data registration issues with HFA, CMRRA and MCPS
  • Research song ownership and administration using various resources and databases
  • Ad hoc licensing tasks
  • Processing quarterly mechanical royalties
  • Ensuring the timely reporting & payment of mechanical royalties to writers, publishers and societies
  • Calculating mechanical deductions and applying to client statements
  • Responding to queries regarding mechanical licensing/reporting

You will ideally have

…knowledge and understanding of global music licensing and royalty processing

…efficient with Microsoft Office, specifically with Microsoft Excel

…excellent written and oral communication skills

…ability to prioritize and exhibit strong time management skills and to stick to deadlines

…a “can do” attitude, and is collaborative and respectful with colleagues

…highly numerate and IT literate

SPECIFICS

  • Based at River Building, Cannon Street, London EC4R 3TE
  • Hours are 37.5 hours per week. Generally, these are taken between 9.30-6 with 1 hour for lunch but amendments to these hours can be agreed on a case by case basis with line manager approval

ANNUAL LEAVE | Contractually 25 days, however Kobalt closes its offices for the 3 days between Christmas and New Year’s when staff contribute 1 day.
