Reporting to the VP, Tracking & Analysis, the Royalties Tracking Assistant will be an essential member of a small, but tight-knit international income tracking and analysis team based in our brand new London office.

The team is responsible for the assurance of revenue from affiliates around the world, as well as finding additional opportunities to grow revenue further in new and existing markets.

You will have the opportunity to support the team with structuring existing royalty tracking and analysis processes to drive maximum value and provide our clients with the most transparent and accurate reporting in the music industry.

Kobalt have built the technology infrastructure to enable better reporting and for artists to maintain ownership and control over how their work is distributed, tracked, collected, and monetized. Our global technology platform is able to track and collect royalties for the billions of micro-payments per song in digital music today. This is an established yet fast growing creator-centric company of artists and songwriters including The Chainsmokers, Kelly Clarkson, Miles Davis, Dave Grohl, Lauv, Zayn Malik, Max Martin, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, Pitbull, Elvis Presley, Skrillex, Sam Smith, and many more. Kobalt represents on average over 40% of the top 100 songs and albums in both the US and UK.

We’re currently over 600 people based across 10 offices and we’re still growing. The role is ideal for someone with a maths or economics degree with a business background. You need to be passionate about music, and enjoy looking at numbers and graphs. Being numerical, and very organized is essential and ideally, you have experience working in a fast-moving and rapidly growing start-up.

What would you do as a Tracking Analyst?

  • Analyze inconsistencies in payment of royalties from overseas collection societies due to songwriters and publishers
  • Provide reports on all analysis, tracking and distribution activities
  • Recommend improvements to current processes
  • Structure ad-hoc analytical tasks
  • Communicate/Present findings using clear and concise language
  • Research and summarize relevant industry insights
  • Help develop Kobalt’s analytical functions

You will ideally have…

…numeracy skills…excellent data gathering/analysis as well as interpreting, reporting and problem-solving capabilities

…first-class communication skills…intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables and formulas like ‘if’, index match, v-lookup etc.)

…PowerPoint and data presentation skills

…basic SQL skills, or an aptitude for programming i.e. can demonstrate logical thinking and be able to explain in words how they would go about retrieving information

…high level of planning, prioritization and organizational skills

…experience of working in a fast-paced, start-up environment

SPECIFICS

  • Based at River Building, Cannon Street, London EC4R 3TE
  • Hours are 37.5 hours per week. Generally, these are taken between 9.30-6 with 1 hour for lunch but amendments to these hours can be agreed on a case by case basis with line manager approval
