Atlantic Records promotes Sheila Richman to EVP press and media

Atlantic Records has promoted Sheila Richman to the role of EVP, press and media.

Richman, who joined the company in 2004 from Island Def Jam (IDJ), most recently served as SVP of publicity. She is responsible for directing media strategy for the entire Atlantic Group, which encompasses Atlantic Records and its various affiliated labels, including Big Beat, Elektra, Fueled By Ramen, and Roadrunner.

Leading a 16-member media team in New York and Los Angeles, Richman oversees campaigns for a raft of artists across the Atlantic Group roster, such as Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, twenty one pilots, Coldplay, Death Cab For Cutie, David Guetta, Sturgill Simpson, Janelle Monae, Paramore, Jason Mraz, Wiz Khalifa, James Blunt, Melanie Martinez, Charlie Puth, and many more.

“When I joined Atlantic from IDJ in 2004, I knew I had to bring Sheila with me as one of the first members of my new team," said Julie Greenwald, Atlantic chair and COO. “Since then, she has not only reinvented the role of label publicity in the modern music business, but she has become an invaluable voice in helping Craig and me chart the course of this amazing company. Artists and managers love and respect her, and she has built amazing relationships across the media community and throughout the industry. I am so proud to count her as my close colleague and great friend, and I’m thrilled to be able to acknowledge all she has done for our company with this richly deserved promotion.”

“Whenever I’m on a mission to sign a great artist, one of the first people I want them to meet is Sheila,” said Craig Kallman, Atlantic chair and CEO. “Her unequaled depth of knowledge and experience, combined with her infectious enthusiasm and passion, make her the greatest cheerleader for the Atlantic family. She was a breath of fresh air and inspiration when she came to us 13 years ago, and her track record in launching, building, and sustaining our artists’ visibility is second to none in our business. Sheila’s role on our team is far larger than her title suggests, and I join Julie in congratulating her on her new post.”

Richman added: “I am incredibly lucky to be working for the best label and the best executives in the business. Julie has been my mentor, friend, and biggest supporter since our days together at IDJ, and throughout my 13 years at Atlantic, Julie and Craig together have always been behind me 100%, giving me every resource necessary to build the best publicity team in the ever-changing media landscape. I want to thank them for this wonderful new opportunity."
