AWAL hires Daniel Stuart as senior vice president of US business affairs

AWAL has today (May 16) announced the hiring of Daniel Stuart as senior vice president, business affairs, United States. Based in AWAL’s Los Angeles office, Daniel will oversee AWAL’s U.S.-based legal affairs activities – according to an official press release this will, “include the negotiation of AWAL’s agreements with its clients, distributors and vendors, and the development and implementation of new business affairs initiatives and strategies.”

Speaking about the appointment, Lonny Olinick, AWAL CEO said: “We spent significant time looking for the right person to lead AWAL’s U.S. BA team. Daniel’s impressive background representing music industry talent and his artist-first approach made him the perfect fit to support our mission of putting artists at the centre of today’s music industry. We're proud to welcome him to the team."

Stuart has represented a host of emerging and A-list music industry talent, entrepreneurs and companies for firms such as King, Holmes, Paterno & Soriano; Manatt, and Phelps & Phillips and penned the first draft of California’s current Coogan Law during his first years as a lawyer.

Stuart also spent several years as a music broadcast journalist, serving as the editor of the national urban radio program RadioScope, the creator of The Hip-Hop Countdown & Report, and  radio doumentary Marvin Gaye: We Miss You.
