John Blewett joins IFPI as director of communications

Recorded music industry association IFPI has appointed John Blewett as its director of communication.

Blewett takes up his role immediately and will be based at IFPI’s London office. He will deliver the communications programme for IFPI, representing the recording industry worldwide.

He has over 10 years’ experience working in the communications industry. He joined IFPI in 2016 from communications consultancy, Luther Pendragon, where he was an associate director.

Frances Moore, IFPI chief executive, commented on the appointment: “I am delighted that John has been confirmed as director of communications. He has had unanimous support of our member companies and brings with him a level of energy and expertise that will enable him to do fantastically well in the role.”

Stu Bergen, CEO, international and global commercial services, Warner Music Group, commented: “It’s great news that John Blewett has been appointed as director of communications at IFPI. He already has a strong track record in the organisation, overseeing the publication of IFPI’s Global Music Report earlier this year. I look forward to continuing to work with him as the industry campaigns to secure a fair value for music.”
