YouTube vs. indie labels: formal process begins in Brussels

Formal proceedings against YouTube for alleged breach of European competition rules regarding the terms it has laid out for independent labels for its upcoming streaming service have now started in Brussels.

IMPALA confirmed the news today, with a detailed complaint lodged with the European Commission earlier this week.

The complaint focuses on five specific instances of conduct which IMPALA says is illegal given YouTube’s position as a gatekeeper to the online market.
