Nottingham's Splendour festival enjoys record turnout

DHP Family's Splendour Festival endured a damp but record-breaking year, attracting a 25,000-strong sell-out crowd to Nottingham's Wollaton Park.

Held on Saturday across five stages offering music, comedy and fringe entertainment, the one-day event featured acts including Kaiser Chiefs, Billy Ocean, Busted, Buzzcocks, Tony Hadley, Black Grape and British Sea Power.

“Thanks to everyone who came along to another great Splendour Festival," said DHP Family's director of promotions Anton Lockwood. "While the weather wasn’t the best, everyone partied hard, and all the artists turned in great performances, putting paid to any dampened spirits. Special thanks to everyone on the crew and security who worked tirelessly to keep everything safe and running on time, even in the rain.”

Organisers said the increased security measures put in place were well-received by festival goers and the increased entry lanes - including an express lane for those with no bags - and additional security staff, meant everyone was able to get on-site quickly throughout the day.

An announcement on the date of Splendour's 2018 edition will be made in due course.
