Glastonbury to take year off in 2018

Glastonbury's next fallow year will be in 2018 in order to give the farm, the village and the festival team the year off, it has been confirmed. Despite previous speculation of a new festival in Longleat, organisers said there are no plans to hold an event at another location. Glastonbury 2017 takes place from June 21-25. General admission tickets go on sale on October 9 and will cost £238, plus a £5 booking fee. Registration closes on October 3. Glastonbury's most recent year off was in 2012. 

eOne Music acquires Hardlivings

Global entertainment studio Entertainment One Music (eOne Music) is expanding its presence in the UK and extending its artist management capabilities with the addition of Dan Stacey’s UK-based music management company Hardlivings. Hardlivings is the artist management company behind Riton, TIEKS and Jax Jones, among others.

Burruss departs Live Nation for AEG

Caroline Burruss has left Live Nation to join rival promoter AEG as vice-president, AEG Global Partnerships. Burruss will be responsible for driving sponsorship sales for concert tours, festivals, venues and other assets of AEG Live and its various subsidiaries, including Goldenvoice. Burruss will concentrate on incorporating  brand partners across AEG Live/Goldenvoice’s music properties, including the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Stagecoach-California’s Country Music Festival, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and the new Panorama festival, which launched earlier this summer in New York, among others. Burruss was previously Live Nation VP, national media and sponsorship.

Travis Scott signs with Grand Hustle/UMPG

Artist and producer Travis Scott has signed an exclusive, worldwide publishing deal with Grand Hustle Publishing/Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG). UMPG, together with Grand Hustle Publishing, is representing Scott’s entire catalogue, including the new album Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight (Grand Hustle/Epic), his sophomore release.

UTA hires Jordan Weissman

Jordan Weissman has joined UTA Music’s private/corporate bookings division. For the past four years, Weissman worked in the music partnerships group at Platinum Rye Entertainment, where he booked private and corporate performances and negotiated brand partnerships deals on behalf of an extensive list of brand and agency clients including Absolut/Pernod Ricard, The Coca Cola Company, DirecTV, Mercedes-Benz USA, Microsoft, and Proctor & Gamble. Weissman will be based in UTA’s New York offices.

Spain music sales continue upward trend

Recorded music sales in Spain have increased for the third year in a row. Trade body Promusicae announced that sales were up 4.1% in the first half of 2016 compared with the same period in 2015. Two-thirds of the €73.5 million earned came from digital music, notably from premium streaming subscriptions. The Spanish music industry has reversed a downward trend in recent years after suffering continuous losses between 2001 and 2013. (Billboard)

Gaga tops Trending Chart

Lady Gaga's Perfect Illusion, the first song from her upcoming fifth studio album, has soared straight to the top of the UK Trending Chart. The Greatest by Sia Ft Kendrick Lamar and Side To Side by Ariana Grande Ft Nicki Minaj rose to No.2 and No.3 respectively, while Olly Murs' You Don't Know Love sits at No.4. Tieks Ft Dan Harkna completes the Top 5 with Sunshine.
