Stars Wars heads to the Royal Albert Hall

Star Wars: A New Hope will be shown at the Royal Albert Hall performed with its 1977 original soundtrack by the London Symphony Orchestra for the first time in the UK this November.

The film is the most requested in history to be added to the Films In Concert event, and will run for five performances with John Williams’ Oscar-winning score.

The long-awaited performance will be a part of a wider series of Star Wars events, featuring Q&As, concerts and family events.

“We’re ecstatic to announce its UK debt at the Hall this November, with the London Symphony Orchestra confirmed for this once-in-a-lifetime show. There’s simply no film - or score - that’s more iconic,” said Lucy Noble, artistic director at the Royal Albert Hall.

The concert will then go on to tour the UK, however, the LSO will be performing exclusively at the Hall.

Kathryn McDowell, MD of the London Symphony Orchestra, said: “The London Symphony Orchestra has a deep and long-lasting relationship with John Williams and particularly his music for the Star Wars films, having recorded the soundtracks for the first six episodes.

“The music of Star Wars is in the LSO blood and we are delighted to be involved in what will surely be a memorable series of performances.”

Star Wars arrives as the most recent announcement in a host for concerts lined up for 2018, featuring Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets, Star Trek, Close Encounters Of The Third Kind and The English Patient.

The concert will run from November 16-18 at the Royal Albert Hall with prices ranging between £35-£85, and tickets will be available from this Friday. Touring will then commence across the UK from November 28 until December 9.
