Global announces new Twitter show, PopBuzz Presents

Media and entertainment group Global has announced a new collaboration with Twitter which will see the launch of the UK’s first show created especially for Twitter.

The first episode of the  weekly entertainment show, PopBuzz Presents, will air on Thursday, November 16 with Lilah Parsons and Will Hardy co-hosting.

The duo will interview high profile guests from the entertainment world, with Liam Payne the special guest for the first show, filmed at Twitter's UK HQ in London.

James Hickman, Global’s director of digital, said: “We’re pleased to have the opportunity to create the first UK show made exclusively for Twitter. PopBuzz attracts a social reach of nearly 200 million every month so we’re confident ‘PopBuzz Presents’ will resonate with Twitter users and offer us another great way to reach Gen Z.  With an all-star line-up of guests and two talented presenters, we’re looking forward to seeing how Twitter reacts to the show when it launches next week.”

The show will stream exclusively on Twitter every Thursday at 5pm GMT, across the UK and around the world.  Fans can watch and join the conversation at live.twitter.com/popbuzz or by heading to @Popbuzz on Twitter.

Dara Nasr, UK managing director at Twitter, added: “We’re incredibly excited to launch #PopBuzzPresents.  Global have always been hugely innovative in their use of Twitter so we’re delighted to partner with them to bring this all-star line-up exclusively to the platform for the first time.  Music and pop culture is constantly happening on Twitter with fans getting a unique, real time glimpse into the world of their favorite artists.  In fact six of the 10 most followed people in the world on Twitter are music artists with @katyperry and @justinbieber both clear of the 100 million mark so PopBuzz Presents seemed like a natural fit.”

In September, Twitter announced it will introduce in-stream video ads in the UK with publishing partners including Global. In June 2017, Twitter and Global worked together to stream Capital’s Summertime Ball on Twitter.
