The deadline for the submission of eligible albums (those by British or Irish bands and artists, released between 30th July 2016 and Friday 21 July 2017) for the 2017 Hyundai Mercury Prize is 6pm this Friday (19 May).

The shortlist of twelve Hyundai Mercury Prize Albums Of The Year will be revealed at a launch event on Thursday, July 27, 2017.

The ceremony will take place on September 14 at Hammersmith’s Eventim Apollo and broadcast on the BBC, and will feature live performances from many of the twelve shortlisted artists. Last year, the prize was claimed by grime star Skepta.
