The Great Escape confirms Switzerland as international player

The Great Escape festival has named Switzerland as its lead international partner for 2017.

The festival will work in close collaboration with Swiss Music Export to shine a spotlight on Switzerland’s most exciting new talent, with several Swiss acts set to perform at the event.

As well as a strong line-up of Swiss artists, the lead nation focus will run throughout the festival, with the event hosting discussions on the Swiss music industry and The Great Escape’s street party featuring stalls selling Swiss delicacies.

“We hope that it gives more Swiss artists than ever before the chance to perform in front of a UK and international audience and do great business.” said Jean Zuber, director of Swiss Music Export.

Kevin Moore, general manager of The Great Escape, added: “TGE has been booking Swiss bands since 2009 and have been working with Swiss Music Export and the Swiss Business Mixer at TGE since 2013.

Acts such as Sophie Hunger, Klaus Johann Gross, OY and Kadebostany have come through and the stature of the show has consistently grown, so 2017 felt like the perfect time to put the Swiss industry in the spotlight.”

The Great Escape takes place at various venues in Brighton from May 18-20.
