Hotly-tipped US band Merchandise have signed to 4AD for their new album, the record label has confirmed.

Formed as a trio in Tampa, Florida in 2008,the group is now a five-piece, featuring new addition Chris Horn on guitar, keys and saxophone.

4AD called the band "parts punk misanthropy, maudlin balladeering, fine art, low humor, classical study, psychedelic spacecasing, mad science and pop genius".
