Open digital music platform 7digital has launched its Windows Phone 8 app in the Windows Store.

The new version updates 7digital’s existing Windows Phone 7 app providing users with the platform’s 22 million strong catalogue.

Users can search for artists and tracks as well as discover new music based on 7digital’s recommendation technology.

Previously purchased music is automatically added to users’ cloud-based locker for access on any device or via a web browser.

The new app includes:

- Support for HD screens on the latest Windows Phone 8 devices

- Fast app resume, a new feature in Windows Phone 8 that creates a premium experience for multitasking between apps and a quick return to your music

- Improved Live Tiles so you can pin your favourite albums and artists to your Start Screen for quick access to the music you like or might want to buy. Three different Live Tile sizes are now available with the 7digital app for Windows Phone 8.

- Improved download support allows up to 25 background transfers at any one time

The latest update adds Windows Phone 8 to 7digital’s existing apps portfolio for iOS, Android and BlackBerry devices.

The app can be downloaded for free from the Windows Store and is available in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and Spanish.
