Upon passing Pink Floyd, Adele found herself only 12,000 sales behind 21 with many, rightly, predicting that she would leap Mark Knopfler's band by the end of the week.
The singer now faces Michael Jackson's Thriller if she wants to progress into the Top 5 of the UK's biggest-selling album list.
