Universal/EMI: AIM unmoved by Grainge's indie proposal

The UK independent label community is split down the middle over Universal's proposed $1.2bn buyout of EMI.

Some companies, such as Mute, Domino and Ministry Of Sound, have applauded a remedies offer from UMG chief Lucian Grainge to IMPALA members that would see indies get first dibs on €250m-worth of assets - including labels such as Chrysalis UK, Virgin Records and EMI Classics.
