Amazon is preparing to open an eight-floor R&D facility in the heart of London as part of growth plans outside of the US.
The 47,000 square-feet space will be located in the capital’s Glasshouse Yard, close to the Silicon Roundabout tech hub.
Work in the new office will be focused on “new digital media projects that will benefit Amazon customers all over the world.”
Reports suggest that Amazon’s aim could be to roll-out products such as the Kindle and Kindle Fire outside of the US far quicker than it has previously been able to do.
The company also announced its development of APIs suggesting it is looking to further expand the Amazon ecosystem for developers.
