Apple is getting ready to add high-definition playback to iOS 8. The news follows a report last month claiming that Apple would announce high-fidelity iTunes downloads at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
Currently, iOS 7’s Music app cannot play 24-bit audio files with a frequency higher than 48 kHz. Third party apps such as FLAC Player can play such files, but are still limited to 16-bit playback rate.
