ASCAP and BMI have described the introduction of a new Songwriting Equity Act in the US as an important step for its members.

The new legislation brought by Congressman Rep Doug Collins, who is a member of the House Committee on the Judiciary, aims to update the Copyright Act to give fairer compensation to songwriters, composers and music publishers for use of their works.
