New York City's Mayor and the Tennessee Governor have declared February 13 ASCAP Day to mark the organisation's 100th birthday.
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and the Governor of Tennessee Bill Haslam made the proclamation on the day of the cententary of the society, which started on February 3 1914 when a group of songwriters, composers and publishers united at the Hotel Claridge in New York City to form an organisation to protect their rights.
