The Austrian National Assembly has passed an amendment to the country’s Copyright Act, which will see levies imposed on storage media “of any kind” in order to compensate rights-holders for the exception for private copying.
Media such as computer hard drives, mobile phones able to store music or films and multi-purpose memory cards will now be subject to the levy.
