Irving Azoff will continue to oversee the careers of acts including the Eagles and Christina Aguilera - but allusions a television programme linked to the industry veteran suggests the former Live Nation chairman could pull some surprises in the near future.
Securities and Exchange Commission filings from Live Nation Entertainment following Azoff resignation from his role at the promotion and management giant on Monday, mention Azoff’s involvement in “a television project currently entitled Marshall”.
No other information on the project can be garnered from the filing, which goes on to point to Azoff’s focus returning to artist management – being able to take on new artists with limiations.
In an interview with Billboard, Azoff said that his old company Azoffmusic Management “continues on”, adding, “[Live Nation] were kind enough to work out a way for me to exit my contract early and still work with the people like the Eagles, Van Halen, Steely Dan and Christina [Aguilera], the people you’d expect to be on that list.”
Azoff also said that he and Tina Kennedy are going to work with The Voice winner Cassadee Pope “but it’s too early to predict anything else.”
Azoff resigned from the Board of Directors and as an employee of Live Nation Entertainment on Monday.
“After successfully overseeing the integration of Live Nation and Ticketmaster over the past two years, my job here is done,” he said in a statement.
