Barry Gibb renews Warner/Chappell deal

Warner/Chappell has renewed its deal with Bee Gees legend Barry Gibb to administer his deep catalogue of songs spanning 1967 to the present day.

As a co-founder of the group, Gibb co-wrote with his late brothers Robin and Maurice a vast number of worldwide hits across several decades, including How Deep Is Yor Love, Stayin' Alive, Words, Tragedy and You Win Again, all recorded by the Bee Gees. Gibb and his brothers also penned many hits for other artists, including Heartbreaker for Dionne Warwick, Woman In Love for Barbra Streisand, Islands In The Stream recorded by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton and the Diana Ross UK chart-topper Chain Reaction.

Giibb said: “I am very proud to be extending my relationship with Warner/Chappell. The people there are great and I look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with a view to maximizing the potential of The Bee Gees and my personal catalogue."

Warner/Chappell North America creative president Jon Platt added: "Barry is undoubtedly one of the most influential and successful songwriters of all time—his extraordinary catalogue is loved by each generation of artists and music fans. Everyone at Warner/Chappell is honoured that he is extending our partnership and, as Barry is one of my favourite songwriters, I am personally thrilled by this rare opportunity to work with such an iconic talent. We look forward to using our global resources and wide-ranging expertise to promote Barry’s music in new and innovative ways.”

Warner/Chappell chairman and CEO Cameron Strang described Gibb as "among pop music's greatest artists, both as a hit-maker and as a performing star".

"WMG is delighted to provide a home for the Bee Gees' legendary music and is proud that Barry entrusts Warner/Chappell with his stunning catalog of songs. We are excited to be building on our long and productive partnership," he added.
