Four-piece collaborative Bastille have been revealed as VEVO Lift’s first act of 2013.
Led by singer-songwriter Dan Smith, Bastille received critical acclaim for their three single releases Overjoyed, Bad Blood and Flaws, taken from their debut album Bad Blood – to be released on March 4, which is preceded bynew single Pompeii on February 24.
VEVO Lift will give the band the opportunity to reach the music video platform’s huge online and mobile audience - 12 million per month of which flock to watch the music videos.
In the course of being the featured VEVO Lift act, Bastille will embark on an eight-week video promotion - filming live performances, behind-the-scenes videos and interviews.
The Lift programme is expanding to five artists in 2013 as VEVO makes good on its stated ambition to help break emerging talent. Last year VEVO’s Lift promotion saw homegrown singers like Labrinth, Rita Ora, Conor Maynard and Lawson receive 64 million video views between them.
Tom Connaughton, VEVO’s director of Programming, said: “We’re very excited to be working with Bastille and are sure they will be a huge hit with the VEVO audience.
“The guys have built an amazing live following and we’re looking forward to helping people discover what they are all about over the next eight weeks. Bastille are exactly the sort of emerging homegrown musical talent VEVO Lift was made for.”
Bastille’s Dan Smith said: “Any musician would jump at the chance to reach millions more fans in just a few weeks, that’s why we are so excited to work with VEVO as the first Lift artist of 2013.
“We plan to give fans a really exciting and entertaining experience during our time as VEVO Lift artists.”
