Beats by Dre has said that it has big plans for recently acquired streaming service Mog and has hired Trent Reznor in a consultancy role.
The developments were revealed at a recent press conference, where the company also showcased a new line of products.
Three new bits of kit were unveiled, namely the BeatsPill portable speaker, Executive headphones and new and improved urBeats in-ear headphones. This follows the end of the brand’s manufacturing and distribution contract with Monster Cable.
President & COO Luke Wood said: "In our earlier careers, we spent hours sweating the details.
“Things like the breath that singers take between each line. That's what we want to recreate with Beats Executive and Beats Pill, which we think is pure sex."
Former Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has partnered with Beats By Dre as a consultant. The artist revealed via Facebook that projects developed between the parties will emerge next year but teased “As much as I'd like to tell you about the things we've dreamed up... I just can't. Not yet... (I can tell you it's probably not what you're expecting!)"
Luke Wood also alluded to “very big plans” that are in “deep iteration” for the Mog streaming service.
Billboard reports that last year Beats claimed stake to 29% of the US headphones market and 56% of the ‘premium headsets’ market (classed as those priced at over $100), according to the NPD Group.
