Melissa Victor has been promoted to vice president, media and artist relations at Def Jam Music Group.
She is best known for her role as Justin Bieber’s press representative but also counts Ludacris, The Wanted and Q-Tip amongst her clients.
In her new role, Victor will work across Island, Def Jam and Mercury Records on television, online and print campaigns.
Laura Swanson, department head and EVP, paid tribute to Victor’s "imaginative and creative approach to campaigns" and "untiring devotion to Justin Bieber, from his first release at 15-years-old to now."
Victor in turn paid tribute to Swanson: "A decade ago, Laura gave me my first real chance; she has since proven an invaluable friend, mentor, and inspiration.
“Blessed with her immediate supervision, the broader leadership of Steve Bartels and the extraordinary roster of artists here at IDJ, I look forward to even greater accomplishments to come."
Victor started her career at Interscope in 2001 before stints at Arista, J Records, and Virgin Records before joining IDJ as senior director of media and artist relations in 2009.
