Boss Records ends Ministry association

Boss Records has ended its five-year relationship with Ministry of Sound and set up its own label in collaboration with Universal.

A team headed by 3 Beat Records founder Jon Barlow together with A&R director Anton powers and label manager Tim Condran has launched 3 Beat Productions, a collaboration with Universal Music Group.

The new label will consist of two separate sub labels, 3 Beat Blue and 3 Beat Red. 3 Beat Blue will focus on "cooler, funky house and electro releases", while 3 Beat Red will release "the tougher"commercial scouse house" sound.

Since its conception as part of the 3 Beat group of labels, Boss Records has signed and released some of the more notable commercial and club hits of recent years, including Top 10 chart hits such as Mason vs Princess Superstar's Perfect Exceeder, Studio B's I See Girls and Angel City's Love Me Right and Do You Know.

3 Beat director Jon Barlow says, "I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone at Ministry Of Sound for five fantastic years. We felt the time was right for a new start and I am very excited about the prospect of taking 3 Beat Productions to the next level in conjunction with Universal Music, a company who can enable us to make an immediate impact."

Ministry Of Sounds was unavailable for comment.
