Cameron Strang takes charge at Warner Bros as Moscowitz quits WMG

Warner Music Group has announced that Cameron Strang, Chairman and CEO of Warner/Chappell and head of WMG’s Music Publishing and Catalog Development division, will add to his management responsibilities the Los Angeles-based Warner Bros. Records.

Rob Cavallo and Livia Tortella, Warner Bros. Records’ Chairman and co-President/COO, respectively, will report directly to Strang.

The company also announced that Todd Moscowitz, Warner Bros. Records’ co-President and CEO, has decided to resign from his position.

With this addition to his management responsibilities, Strang will now oversee all of WMG’s West Coast U.S. operations.

Stephen Cooper, WMG’s CEO, said, “Since joining WMG, Cameron has demonstrated strong leadership, both in the revitalization of our Warner/Chappell music publishing arm as well as through his service on the WMG Board of Directors.

He has broad knowledge of both the music publishing and recorded music businesses, combined with an entrepreneurial drive and progressive vision for the role of music companies.  I’m confident that he will be a significant champion for Warner Bros. Records as we continue to invest in A&R and position the label for even greater success.”

Strang said, “It is a tremendous privilege that Steve has asked me to oversee the operations at Warner Bros. Records.  The extraordinary artists, the incredible history and the talented employees at the label make the company one of the crown jewels in the music industry and in contemporary culture.

Throughout my career, I viewed Warner Bros. as an example of what every music company should aspire to be—a creative haven for artists that provides them with unparalleled support in all aspects of their careers.  To be able to contribute to the future success of one of the most storied brands in music and to continue Warner Bros.’ tradition of creative excellence is a truly great honor.”

Cooper added, “I want to thank Todd for all of his contributions to WMG since 2004.  During his tenure at Warner Bros. which began in 2010, Todd has been instrumental in bringing new talent and energy to the label.  He’s a first-rate creative executive and I’m confident he will have continued success in the music industry.”

Strang already leads Warner Music Group’s Music Publishing & Catalog Development division, which includes Warner/Chappell Music and Rhino Entertainment.

As Warner/Chappell Music's Chairman and CEO, Strang is responsible for the music publisher's worldwide operations, including strategic acquisitions, A&R, international licensing initiatives and global expansion. Rhino Entertainment—which includes Rhino Records, WMG Custom Products, and WMG Film, Television & Commercial Licensing—looks after the development of Warner Music Group's vast recorded music catalog of extraordinary artists, and provides support and assistance to the company's frontline labels
