Capital FM plays One Direction for first time in 3 months

According to tweets from fans, the station played single What Makes You Beautiful close to 7.45pm.

Global has not played a One Direction song since the band's Harry Styles thanked rival Radio 1 after picking up Best British Single at the Brits on February 21 - a category voted for by Capital FM listeners.

Dougie Poynter was listening to Capital presenter James Barr last night.

He alerted fans to the big boy band news, tweeting (via Radio Today): "The man [on] capital just said 'we're gonna play one direction' maybe they're over it finally haha."

Capital FM is owned by Global Group, which also runs Global Talent - the label of 1D rival The Wanted.

One Direction made history in the US in March, becoming the first British band to debut at No.1 on the Billboard albums charts.
