Columbia Records president Ashley Newton will be leaving Sony for Capitol Music, according to Billboard sources.
He will reportedly be taking on the role of "CMG president and EVP of creative/special projects for Universal Music Group".
Newton was appointed president of Columbia in 2010 and had previously held senior A&R positions at RCA Records and Virgin Records UK, with his career starting at Island Records in the UK under Chris Blackwell.
