Darlington's flagship music venue, the Hub, is reportedly closing down, according to artists who were set to play there in the next few weeks.
The Darlington Hub is a multi-room venue located on the town's Gladstone Street. It has recently hosted gigs from the likes of Frank Turner, Spector, and Twisted Wheel. The venue did not pick up multiple calls made by Music Week earlier today.
The Courteeners were due to play the venue on December 5. A statement from the band reads: "We're working hard to fill the gap left by the cancellation of the Darlington Hub show on 5th December due to closure of the venue. The band were deeply saddened by the news, but are looking forward to announcing a new show in its place very soon.
"Refunds for the Darlington Hub tickets are available from point of purchase. Cash purchasers from the venue box office will be able to get a full cash refund from The Middlesbrough Empire Box Office, 2 Corporation Road, Middlesbrough. Telephone 01642 253553."
The Chapman Family were scheduled to play the Hub next week. Their statement reads: "The Darlington gig that was scheduled for the 22nd November is unfortunately cancelled due to the venue closing down. Apologies for any inconvenience but it's genuinely out of our control.
"We'll have more gig announcements very soon though (that hopefully won't get cancelled!) so keep your eyes peeled."
Frankie & The Heartstrings were billed to play the Hub, which also operates as a comedy venue, tonight. They have told fans:
"Sorry to say, due to venue closure our show on Thursday at The Hub in Darlington, is cancelled. We'll try and get back there soon.. Otherwise, we're playing Middlesbrough just down the road on the 20th - Full dates at frankieandtheheartstrings.com"
