Depeche Mode are to release their upcoming 13th studio album via Columbia Records on March 2013.

Following a long career signed to Mute Records, the trio have now signed up with the Sony subsidiary for the new music.

Speaking to Music Week, frotman Dave Gahan said of the new record: “This record feels like it’s been steeped in blues influences, in the recording and in the sound of it, it’s still electronic.

“I think it’s probably the best record we’ve made for a long time. I’m surprised by that, I’m surprised at how well Martin [Gore] and I worked together, how we shared songwriting a lot more than we had before.”

Depeche Mode will embark on a European tour, kicking off in Tel Aviv’s Hayarkon Park on May 7. They will perform 34 shows in 25 European countries, including two shows at London’s O2 Arena.
