The DoJ could be about to make a big change to split-licensing rules - report

The US Department of Justice has reportedly sent a letter to BMI and ASCAP informing them that any rights-holder/writer named for a song may soon be able to licence 100% of that song - regardless of whether they actually own the entirety of the works.

All rights-holders have historically been required to approve their section of a song - commonly referred to as fractional licensing.
