Following his recent departure from Dangerbird Records, Jeff Castelaz is said to be in line to take over Elektra and close to sealing the deal.
That's according to a source speaking to Billboard. Earlier in the week the publication reported the news of the departure of Castelaz and his colleague, general manager Matt Solodky, from Dangerbird whilst the then-head of promotion Jenni Sperandeo was made president of the company’s recorded and publishing arms.
The Billboard source is apparently close to the situation, although stresses that the deal is not yet closed.
Billboard suggests that Castelaz’s strength in the rock sector will ‘make him a logical success’ within the label, succeeding its former heads, Mike Caren and John Janick.
