EMI's 'extraordinary' rise under Hands did not happen in UK or US

Guy Hands' boast this week of EMI's market share accelerating under Terra Firma ownership is contrary to the company's UK and US performances over that time.

In an interview with Bloomberg released on Monday he said between the time Terra Firma bought EMI in 2007 and when it was sold to Citigroup in early 2011 EMI's market share went up from 9% to 17%, adding: "That's an extraordinary movement in a declining market when you default, so the strategy worked.”
