European politicians have voted in favour of measures “to prevent any abuse in the marketing of interlinked services by operators of search engines”.
Operators of search engines include Microsoft, Yahoo and Google, with the latter being considered the main target of the legislation, due to its other products such as YouTube and Android.
The vote passed by 384 to 174 yesterday (Thursday, November 27), with 56 abstentions, although the European Parliament has no power to break up any companies.
