Finland to introduce private copying compensation

Finland is to introduce a government fund to compensate artists for the private copying of music and films.

The new system replaces copyright levies on digital devices and could mean that creators get a higher amount of remuneration, according to Finnish MEP Henna Virkkunen.

However, general manager of authors' rights society, GESAC, Veronique Desbrosses warned that the fund is at risk of decreasing due to possible cuts in future to the state's budget.
