Former Epic and Geffen exec and music industry veteran Polly Anthony has died, following a long-term battle with pancreatic cancer.
All Access Music Group reports that Anthony, most recently a TV and movies exec, began her career in the music industry as an assistant at CBS Records and worked her way up to senior roles, including SVP/promotion at Epic to president of Epic Records Group, as well as president of 550 Records at Sony and co-president of Geffen Records.
All Access president & publisher Joel Denver paid tribute to Anthony, saying "[She] was one of the smartest record executives ever".
Songwriter Diane Warren said: "My dear friend and sister by choice, Polly Anthony has passed away. I am heartbroken for her family and those of us lucky enough to know this amazing badass loyal protective and fierce woman warrior who I was lucky to have in my life all these years. There will b a hole forever in it now. I love U. RIP dear Polly."
