Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Iceland have all submitted bids for HMV stores with a view to turning them into supermarkets.
The Independent reports that the premises targeted are the right size to be run as supermarkets, with Tesco targeting 20 stores, Iceland 50 and Sainsbury’s around 25.
Discount retail chains such as Poundland and 99p Stores, as well as River Island and Arcadia are also said to be interested.
