France’s anti-piracy regime Hadopi has lost its Internet suspension measure after the government's Constitutional Council ruled that portion of the law to be unconstitutional.
Under an official decree issued on Monday, the government can no longer suspend users' Internet access for copyright violation. Fines are now the only available penalty, starting at €60 and increasing based on the number of violations.
The ruling comes after a recent report recommended that the scheme be amended due to a debate over its efficiency.
