Gangnam Style tops YouTube 2012 trends

YouTube has published a list of its top trending videos of 2012, which is led by Psy’s Gangnam Style.

In a post published on its blog, the video giant revealed that the Korean rapper came No.1 in with his dance-fuelled video and was followed by band Walk Off The Earth at No.2 with their kooky take on Gotye’s worldwide hit Somebody That I Used To Know.

Other notable music entries in the Top 10 global trends were Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe featuring Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Ashley Tisdale at No.4, and Dubstep Violin - Lindsey Stirling – Crystallize at No.8.

YouTube revealed that in a “big year” for the platform, its users watched over 4 billlion hours of videos a month.

The YouTube Rewind channel is currently hosing the top trending videos of the year via territory (video below), and the global Top 10 trends are as follows
