Global Radio has refused to publicise the latest information in the string of a campaign to promote DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting), despite recently signing a commitment memo for the cause.
The radio group, that incorporates Heart and Capital stations, signed a non-legally binding memorandum of understanding on the funding of local DAB last month as Digital Radio UK launched the next phase of its industry-wide ad campaign to promote digital radio.
Whilst other radio groups carried the promotion, Global failed to do so for the fourth time.
The original target date to roll out part of a digital radio switchover (switching off the FM signal for many large stations) was 2015 but this is unlikely to go ahead at that time.
Media Week reports that Global Radio are in discussions regarding funding of digital radio and although the memorandum was signed, representatives feel it would be ‘inappropriate to run any promotions’ related to the cause at this time.
