Goo Goo Dolls headline NFL entertainment weekender in London

The related programme of music and entertainment will run throughout this weekend (October 21-23) with events as following:

- Friday, October 21: NFL Friday Night Lights - Trafalgar Square
(outdoor film screening)

- Saturday, October 22: NFL Rally- Trafalgar Square
(live music and entertainment)

- Sunday, October 23: Goo Goo Dolls pre-game performance and NFL match at Wembley Stadium

NFL UK Managing Director Alistair Kirkwood said: "We are thrilled to have a band with the track record of Goo Goo Dolls performing at Wembley. Not only do they have an established reputation and fan base, but their recent chart success shows how current they remain. We are looking forward to them putting on a great show for our fans."

The band enthused: "We're really excited about bringing American music and football to the UK. This is gonna be a blast."

Last year, the inaugural free entry NFL Rally event attracted 38,000 revellers on the night before the big game. This year, live music and dance acts confirmed to perform on the day include: The Noisettes, Freestylers, Beardyman, Chris and Wes and Kings of the City. In addition to this, there will be performances from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders, the Bears Drumline and appearances from current NFL players and Super Bowl legends.

The NFL game on Sunday will see the Chicago Bears go up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Goo Goo Dolls' song Iris hit the top of the iTunes chart this month, 13 years after its original release. The band's Greatest Hits record also recently made a return to the charts.

Previous pre-game performers at the NFL International Series games hosted in London were: The Feeling, Stereophonics, Calvin Harris and My Chemical Romance.
